Chennai: Southern Railway has installed Wi-Fi in 543 stations, making a 30-minute free internet connection for passengers available at almost all the main stations except the stating stations.
This facility, installed by Railtel, is now available at 135 stations in Chennai Division, 105 in the Trichy Division, 79 in the Salem division, 95 in the Madurai Division, Palakkad and 70 in the Thiruvananthapuram division.
About 5,087 KM South Railway routes are covered by fiber optic cables to provide connectivity.
Free connection for the first 30 minutes of use every day at a speed of 1 Mbps.
To continue to use, users need to choose a plan at a higher speed by paying.
Plans vary from Rs 10 / day (for 5 GB @ 34 Mbps) to the hospital.
