Chennai: Taking a strong record of occupants made to run from the pillar to post to get approval build, City Corporation has directed all zonal officials to ensure the documents are issued within 30 days after receiving the application.
The Civic’s body is also considering moving the entire online process to reduce the hassles.
Circular from the executive engineer (works) at the company’s headquarters, was released last week for the GCC commissioner’s instructions to all the concerned headquarters and engineers officers, stating that all applications must be addressed within 30 days unless there is a legitimate reason for delays.
“Residents and commercial companies are made to run round-swirling without being told what procedure to obtain development approval is.
Circular will help applicants informed about this process,” said a senior GCC official.
Circular also provides a clear time line to process applications.
The Executive Assistant Engineer is to make a site visit within five days after recognizing the application, enter an online inspection report in the next two days and must verify the document in the next five days.
If there are additional documents needed, the request must be sent to the applicant within 48 hours and the applicant must send it online within 15 days later.
Cost calculations will be carried out online and authority must give approval within 15 days after supervision of the document.
The circular letter also stated that the corporation was considering eliminating the submission of a copy of the hard document.
Until the process is moved online, a separate counter will be made in each zonal office to receive documents for the application sent online, he added.
Applicants will be given recognition with the application number and entries will be made in the register after receiving the document.
At the GCC Head Office, the counter submission will be managed by the Assistant Executive Engineer on the fifth floor of Amma Maligai.
The strength delegated to zonal officials means that approval planning for high-rise housing and commercial buildings (with a maximum FSI area of 464.5sqm and the ground floor and floor or the carib + 2 floors to a height of 9 meters) can now be approved by an zonal executive engineer in the zonal office.
They will also process the demolition application.
Only permission for buildings with a FSI area above 464.5sqm to 929sqm with a height of 12m will go to Chief Engineer (Planning) at the headquarters for approval.
The building built to an height of 18.3 million will be approved by the GCC Commissioner.
