Now has the largest number of LPG consumers in India

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh now has the largest number of LPG consumers among all states in the country even when the state government targets to provide a free gas connection to 20 lakh more beneficiaries under Ujwala 2.0, a spokesman said on Monday.
According to the Planning Department, the number of LPG consumers with subsidized connections in this country has reached 4,26,33,197.
Of these, 4,07,10,440 consumers (95.49%) have been associated with a digital database.
“There is no other country in this country that has a high percentage of LPG consumers with subsidized connections that are linked to a digital database,” said the state government spokesman.
“In 2014, it rose only 1.67 LPG Consumers Crore.
According to the data on the planning department, this number has increased to 4.26 crores in August 2021.
Not only the connection increased, even the LPG coverage area has grown,” said the spokesman.
“Even during the Covid-19 crisis, the government provides gas connections to the poor and in need Providing gas connections to 20 lakh more people under the scheme of Ujwala 2.0.
“Until five years ago, people face a lot of difficulties in getting a reliable LPG and cylinder connection.
The situation has changed drastically, and the government itself identifies beneficiaries to provide a free LPG connection,” he said.
Now, 18.34% of the total beneficiaries of Ujwala Yojana in this country originated, spokesman added.
In the second phase of Ujjwala Yojana, a campaign was launched in 10 districts – Sonbhadra, Banda, Mahaga, Chitrakoot, Rae Bareli, Hardoi, Badun, Amethi, Fatehpur and Farrukhabad – to provide gas connections to beneficiaries and connect them with Digital Databases.
