New Delhi: In a measure aimed at providing easy to do business, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken over the issuance of health trade licenses and other permits needed to run hotels and restaurants in Delhi.
All certificates needed now will only be available through a single window system – General Portal on the Ministry’s website.
“Publishing and renewal of health trading licenses to hotels and restaurants must be done through the MHA portal.
Medical health workers to ensure that the license was issued without delay,” said the recent command issued by South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
One of the main responsibilities of the Civic Agency is distributing health licenses, trade licenses, factory licenses and others.
So far, the process of obtaining this license requires shops, restaurants, and other agents to be applied through corporate portals.
Now, they only need to visit the ministry portal for this license.
“Previously, the process was very tiring and consuming a lot of time for applicants.
The portal will streamline it and provide more transparency.
However, those who don’t really understand the computer can find a new process,” said an official at East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
In Delhi, City corporation, Delhi fire fighting services, Delhi police and Delhi pollution control committees mainly publish licenses to restaurants.
All four departments have been linked to this portal on the MHA website.
The application will be transferred to these departments for the required permits.
To access this portal, the applicant must create an online account on the MHA website and then apply for a fresh license or old renewal.
AAP Parcherary Atishi, however, said: “Because the process of publishing the license has shifted to the MHA portal, only shops and restaurants located in the commercial area were to be officially able to obtain a license.
More than 75% of these companies are in the colony Unauthorized, people there cannot get their updated licenses and show notice released for them from MHA.
“According to corporate officials, fire incidents in hotels and guesthouses in the city, who claimed many lives over the past few years, too trigger the decision to have the same portal.
In February 2019, a big fire occurred at the Arpit Hotel Palace in Karol Bagh, who claimed life of 17 people.
