Now, ‘Rifle-women’ to check the smuggling of weapons in Central Kashmir

Srinagar: Army on Friday mobilized female soldiers at various checkpoints in the Central Kashmir Canderbal Regency.
Also known as ‘rifle-women’, the spread of them mainly checks narcotics and smuggling weapons across LOC by local women.
‘Rifle-women’ has become part of a combat group in Kupwara district in North Kashmir, deployed in August last year amid narcotics reports and smuggling weapons by militants with the help of “women’s handlers.” Official Commander 34 Assam RSAM Hospital Karakoti told the media that the ‘Rifle-Women’ of Assam Rifles had been deployed at the cellular vehicle checkpoint on Ganderbal.
“They have become a multiplier of strength and they have bridged the gap between local strengths and women.
We use it in other operations when we use our riflemen.
‘Rifle-women’ helps develop special relationships between soldiers and locals,” he said.
