Kanpur: After the Zika virus, someone has been found infected by a typhus scrub in the Hashangj area of Unnao District.
The Integrated Disease Supervision Program Officer Nodal IDsp Dr.
VK Gupta confirmed about the Typhus Case scrub which was reported from Gazaffar Nagar at Hasangj Tehsil Unnao on Wednesday.
Dr.
Gupta said that the patient had undergone treatment at Lucknow Hospital.
“The Ministry of Health team visits the pocket from where the patient praises on Thursday.
Distribution of medicines, in addition to fogging training will be carried out there on Thursday,” Dr.
Gupta further.
The man, a resident of Gazaffar Nagar Hasanganj Tehsil, complained of fever followed by headaches since the last few days.
Family members admitted him to the hospital in Lucknow, where the doctors after the intensive examination confirmed him to be in the typhus scrub.
The report was received by Unnao’s Chief Medical Officer on Wednesday night.
Dr.
Satyaprakash Chief Medical Officer told the media people that the team from Hasanganj CHC was sent to the village.
Dr.
VK Gupta further said that it was a disease that was transmitted through vectors.
“This affects the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, kidney, respiratory and gastrointestinal systems.
In some cases, patients may even die due to multi-organ failure,” said Dr.
Gupta further.
He said that the typhus scrub, also known as Bush Typhus, was a disease caused by bacteria called Orientia Tsutsugamushi which was usually reported from a rustic bag.
“Typhous scrubs spread to people through the bite of infected chicgers (larvae mites).
The most common symptoms of typhus scrubs including fever, headaches, body pain, and sometimes rashes,” said Dr.
Gupta further and added, “No.
There are vaccines available to prevent typhus scrubs.
This can be cured by antibiotics if given as soon as the symptoms begin.
