New Delhi: Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Saturday allows passengers who stand in Delhi Metro and public transportation buses to minimize the use of private vehicles.
This step is intended to reduce air pollution by checking the number of vehicles on the streets.
Minister of Transportation Kailash Gahlot asked Delhi people to move to public transportation and help reduce air pollution.
Transportation by Delhi Metro and the bus has been permitted with a 100% seating capacity.
Now, according to the DDMA command, transportation by Delhi Metro is permitted with a 100% coach seat capacity along with 30 passengers who stand in a coach.
Intra-state DTC movements, as well as bus clusters, are permitted with a 100% seating capacity of the bus along with passengers stand up to 50% of the bus seat capacity.
In terms of the bus, the hostel will only be permitted from the back door when the deposits will be permitted only from the front door.
“At the request of the Delhi government, DDMA has revised its demands on passengers standing.
Now, 50% of the actual seating capacity in the bus and up to 30 people in each metro coach can travel as a passenger standing.
I ask Delhies to shift to public transportation and help reduce pollution in Delhi, “said Gahlot on Twitter.
In a command, DDMA stated that given the situation of air pollution that apply in the capital, it is necessary to increase the carrying capacity of public transport systems to minimize the use of private vehicles, to improve air quality around the city.
