New Delhi: Come on September 15, the government will allow private vehicle registration under the new “BH” series that will ensure smooth transfer throughout the state and eliminate the need for re-registration when the owner shifts from one state to another country.
To get started, the registration will be permitted for people in work that can be transferred as in defense, the central and state governments, PSU and also in private sector companies that have offices in four or more state and more.
The new regime “Bharat” (BH) a series of vehicles, notified by the Ministry of Road Transportation, will be a voluntary scheme for the specific category of vehicle owners.
In the long run, the government aims to bring all vehicles under this series for uniformity and free transfers.
The number of vehicle registration will mention the year of registration, BH Mark, numbers and numerical letters.
At present, someone is allowed to keep a maximum vehicle of 12 months in any state besides the situation in which he is registered.
The owner must regain the vehicle registered again in this deadline.
Toi has been on April 28, first reported this step to have a national registration series for the private vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle that chooses this scheme must pay a road tax for two years or in multiples of two.
“After finishing the 14th year, motor vehicle tax or road tax will be collected every year and it will be half of the number of previously charged for the vehicle,” said a ministry official.
The whole process will be made online to ensure no need to go to RTOS.
The ministry has repaired road taxes at 8% for vehicles worth 10 lakh, 10% for those who cost between Rs 10-20 lakh and 12% for vehicles for RS 20 lakh.
There will be 2% additional costs for diesel vehicles and electric vehicles will be subject to 2% less tax.
Until now, when registering a private vehicle, the owner pays a road tax 15 years in advance.
If they transfer their vehicles to other countries and go for re-registration, they need to pay road taxes for the remaining years such as 10 or 12 years.
