Prayagraj: Faculty members from the University of Allahabad (AU) will now work to protect the Ganga River from environmental degradation.
Acting on the direction of the Ministry of Union Jal Shakti, the AU authorities have formed a special committee below Prof.
I.R.
Siddiqui from the Chemistry Department for this purpose.

The panel will have five members, including two female teachers who will conduct extensive surveys about the river bank to identify potential threats.
The purpose of this new initiative is to protect the river and help plug the main source of pollution.
The committee will work in collaboration with the Indian Technology Institute (IIT), Kanpur.

Siddiqui, head of the geography department, said, “Ganga is not just a river for us but the flow of civilization and our national culture and identity.
Efforts must be made to make free ganga pollution and ensure the continuity of the flow.
For this, we will monitor the river, survey all villages in Throughout the path, the geotag of drains falls on the river and the most importantly binding society that lives on the edge of protecting the river.
”
“Community support, including college students and teachers located in villages along the river, will be sought in line with the lives of villagers rotating around the river and once, they were made aware of the need to preserve the river, half the battle was won,” he added.
He further said that the support of NCC’s cadet and NSS volunteers will be taken in activating villagers, students and women.
