Chennai: After the state government of Tamil Nadu announced 50 percent of reservations for MDS receipts to doctors in service, the Association of Medical Officers Nadu had demanded that this was expanded for super-special medical courses such as DM and MCH.

Akilan, the President of the State of the Medical Association of Tamil Nadu welcomed the state government’s decision for providing reservations at BDS doctors in government services and said that the same was expanded for MD / MS and DM / DM courses.

He said, “This has become a long demand from a government doctor and we hope the government to apply the same quota to receive to MD / MS courses and super-specialtal flows such as DM / MCH.”
The association had in the petition by 2020 to the government complaining that in the absence of in-house service quota, the service candidate entered MDS at Zero government dental colleges in 2019 and three in 2020.
The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) which has started the acceptance procedure for the MDS program in government and self-financing for the academic year in 2021-22 has stated in the prospectus provisions of 50 percent quota for service doctors.
According to DME prospectus, of the total seats approved for MDS courses in government tooth courses, 50 percent are allocated to all India quota for allotment by the Director General of Health.
The 50 percent balance of the chair will be allocated under the country’s quota under the first phase of counseling and from 50 percent of the seats in the quota of the state government, 50 percent will be allocated exclusively for candidates in services working in state-state hospitals and other institutions.
The 50 percent balance will be in the open category and both service candidates and non-service candidates can apply.
The chair will be filled based on a sign secured in NEET, along with an eligible incentive sign.
There were 42 seats for MDS at the Tamil Nadu Government Dental College while 268 seats in universities financed themselves.

Akilan said the quota of services has been rejected since 2017 and the association has held several protests and takes legally problems.
The Supreme Court has also made a decision that countries can order 50 per cent chairs for candidates in service.
In a statement, he said, “The state government of the state has now provided a 50 percent reservation in the MDS course for doctors in service and we want the government to extend this to MD / MS and DM / MCH courses as well.”
