Letter: Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) students will be able to provide a test every month, if, everything goes according to plan.
Meanwhile, the VNSGU Syndicate and Academic Board has approved a proposal to prepare the modality of the new ‘On Doues Exam’ (ODE) system.
If this turns into reality, VNSGU might make a unique record in this country to approve the system that has started preparation.
A committee will be appointed by the representative of Chancellor to decide on modalities.
This system will help students save at least nine months in getting entrance tickets in the next academic session, or courses or jobs.
In the initial phase, the system is only brought to students who fail in the exam.
However, Ode does not benefit regular students.
As per the minimum time requirement needed for each course a student cannot appear in the exam before the course period is complete.
Previously, those who failed to wait at least six months to appear in the next semester exam and one month later for the announcement of the results.
If students fail again, it can appear in the next semester exam.
“In the existing system, it takes at least six months to clean the exam and to enter next year or students’ courses must wait for a year.
But Ode will save at least nine months if students clear the exam in the first attempt,” said K Chavda, Representative Chavda , VNSGU.
This will be the task of Herculean for the teachers and the VNSGU exam department to conduct tests on request.
They must save several question papers, set the seating settings and get the answer book checked at regular intervals.
“Our planning is such that a student can appear in a very month test.
This will be a big task but we have started preparation for it,” Chavda said.
With this new system, 12 exams will be carried out in a year and students can choose their own dating for the test.
Varsity recently approved a multiple entry system where a student can receive a ticket in a year during the beginning of the academic year or in the middle of the academic year.
