Ahmedabad: another chapter has been added to the Scam-Book of Mgnrega scheme (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Work Guarantee) in Gujarat.
This time, NRG (Gujarati Non-Resident) who has worked in Sydney since 2012, was found to have explored a pond in the original village of Alindra in Nadiad Taluka from Kheda Regency.
Arpit Patel, 30, who works for private companies in Sydney, and family members – Dinesh Patel’s father, 59, who works for milk; Mrs.
Jayshree Patel, 56, a household maker, and Arpit’s brother, Kinjal, 33, a computer teacher – has been registered as a MGNREA worker.
According to MGNREGA documents, they are registered in 2012, which are years migrating to Australia.
Since then, the family has worked for about 184 days under Mgnrega, digging the pool and produced around Rs 96,000.
Sarpanch from the village of Alindra Rajnikant Patel admitted that this irregularity was, called it a mistake.
“We pay attention to the irregularities four days ago when the District Development Officer (DDO) ordered an investigation in this case.
Arpit, who has migrated to Australia, has been named a worker, but it was found that he and his family members had been registered as MGNREGA workers.
That is a mistake by the village government, “said Patel.
Ddo M K Dave said he had ordered an investigation into this case and suspected that many more deviations would be excavated.
“The demand will be completed in a week or more after that legal action will be made to those accused,” Dave said.
Brother Kinjal Arpit cannot be contacted despite several attempts.
Previously, a massive scam MGREGA had been excavated in August and September 2020, where the dead, doctors, civil servants, police and even school children were shown as MGNREGA workers.
