NU 1st in the state to reduce costs for students due to covid-19 pandemic

Nagpur: Nagpur University has become the first in Maharashtra to officially reduce costs in the background of the Covid-19 pandemic, giving a very necessary pause to more than 3.5 lakh students.
Formally issued a notification on Tuesday after the management board approved a decision at the Friday meeting.
The neglect will apply from the new academic year, 2021-22, which starts from this month.
But it is excluded every cutting of tuition and terms charged by universities.
TOI has tracked the problem with consistently highlighting demand made by various organizations and parents of students because of induced pandemic locking, which greatly influences the majority of residents’ income and draining their savings.
According to the notification, the university has reduced costs from 50% to 100% under various heads, while taking care that private universities do not suffer.
“This is indeed a historic decision for Lakh Students and our first in Maharashtra to do so.
Even the Ministers of Higher Education Uday Samant appreciated NU’s efforts in this direction.
Even though we decided to provide 100% neglect in test costs, we have agreed to limit up to 75% , with the view that the sanctity must be maintained.
The majority of NU students use scholarships, but those who do not qualify for it will greatly benefit, “the inspection and evaluation board (Booo), Prafulla Sable told TII.
Member of the Wisnu Changde Management Board, who fought with the NU government to provide 100% cost neglect for a long time, and even apply for many representations in this matter, said all universities must be required to provide benefits announced by NU, others can begin against them.
, “Although members of the Management Board supported the total neglect, the NU government was reluctant, because it would experience a big loss of around RS75 Crore.
We then calculate all expenses and discuss it through several meetings about this problem.
However, NU suffered losses with RS30-40 tones.” Praise NU administration for historic movements, Changde, which is part of the NU panel formed for this purpose, said the university was released around RS390 which was charged per student under various universities from private universities.
“There will be 50% of concessions in the laboratory, library, and the cost of NU development, while no neglect will be provided for entry fees, student identity cards, insurance and registration,” he told toi.
