Nagpur: Solar-powered factory installed at the Administrative Building Jamnalal Bajaj Nagpur University was assigned on Thursday.
The project was first planned in 2019 with the aim of using environmentally friendly energy sources and saves large quantities at electricity costs.
According to data, previously electrical bills will be around RS8 Crore per year.
Now, the university will successfully save RS72 lakh per year.
The project has the capacity to produce 500kW power and approved by the central and state governments, along with the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (Meda).
The project is regulated under the model of the Meda Renewable Energy Service Company (Resco) where the company will take care of repairs and maintenance and installation.
Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari, Patode, Regional Director of Meda, Professor Niranjan Deshkar, Member of the Management Board, Deputy Chancellor Subhash Chaudhari, Pro-VC Sanjay Dudhe and Raju Hwase Registrar was present at the inauguration ceremony.
Deshkar told the Toi that the amount stored on electricity would be given to students for the use of other projects.
They also plan to develop Raman Science Center Energy Park.
