Thiruvananthapuram: The 56-year-old nun died on Saturday after the car where he traveled to meet the accident near the Pirappancode under the boundaries of the Venjaramoodu police station.
Sr Grace Mathew, a Princess Prisoner Mary Convent, Pongumoodu, in the city is the deceased.
Three other nuns, who traveled with him and a priest who drove a car also suffered an injury in the accident.
According to the police Venjaramoodu, the accident occurred around 4.15 in the morning at MC Road near St John Hospital in Thycaud.
They reportedly traveled from Thrissur to Pongumoodu.
The Toyota Qualis car they traveled deviating from the road and hit a tree that stood beside the road.
Even though Sr.
Grace Mathew was seriously injured with other people immediately in a hurry to the hospital, the Daktas could not save their lives.
The others involved in the accident was received at a private hospital in the city.
The police said that the car was driven by Pastor Arun.
Three other nuns in the car were identified as Sr Anupama, Sr Angel Mary and Sr Lydia.
The police said that Pastor Arun was allegedly asleep while driving and losing control over the car.
Sr Grace Mathew was sitting in the passenger seat in front and suffered more injuries than the others during a collision, finally resulted in his death.
