Gurugram: plant nurseries, restaurants and shops have penetrated several green belts throughout the city, including them along the Golf Road (extension), South Peripheral Road (SPR), road separating sector 9 and 9A, Ardee City and Sector 82, 84 and 92, among others.
According to the local residents, street vendors arrange vegetable markets in several green belts on Wednesday and Sunday.
Ardee Coma’s visit to Jalan Golf Course Road (extension) on Saturday by Toi also revealed that construction and disassembly waste (C & D) was thrown in a green belt near the construction site along the road, while several green belts were displayed for protection.
“For years, I have noticed that the green belt along the golf path (extension) has been interrupted and is often used to dispose of garbage C & D and other mixed waste.
We have taken it to the authorities notice several times and provide proof of photography,” said Ruchika Sethi, a resident.
Wild residents have also taken over the green belt in several new sectors.
“In sectors 84 and 92, vendors prepare vegetable markets every Wednesday and Sunday in a green belt.
The authority of the Metropolitan Gurgaon (GMDA) development must focus on rebuilding these areas and the City and State Planning Department (DTCP) must also eliminate the vendors from Green belt, “said Praveen Malik, vice president and spokesman for the United Association of New Gurgaon, a group of residents.
Other new sectors, Dharamveer Singh, who is also the President of Rwa Mapsko Casa Bella in Sector 82, said: “Green belt which extends from an ansal hub in sector 83 to Mapsko Paradise has been fully interrupted.
Illegal workshops, tea shops and small restaurants Operating there.
“When asked, Subhash Yadav, Head of the GMDA Urban Environment Division, GMDA, said they had removed nurseries, food stalls and other wild residents from the green belt several times.
“The wild residents will not break so the green belt fence is finished.
We have started a green belt fence.
Our focus on the first phase will be the middle threshold and then take a walk,” he said.
Yadav also said the SPR will be changed and rebuilding the green belt will be part of the project.
“The problem we face with a green belt in the new sectors is that other institutions still put pipes for water, sewerage and other connections.
In sector 67, someone explores all plantations for power connections,” he added.
Some residents say green belts are also used to dispose of C & D waste.
“Construction waste has been thrown in a green belt near the number 1 gate from Ardee City for about a year now.
I have seen trucks from the corporation of Gurgaon City (MCG) Waste and we also filed a complaint in February, but the authorities failed to examine it, “Chaitali Mandhotra claims, residents of Ardee City.
Meanwhile, the commissioner with MCG (head office) Harom’s Attri said it was very possible that someone used the name MCG on his truck and disposed of waste illegally.
“We will check this and an action will be taken against the waste of C & D which is discharged illegally.
We started the enforcement encouragement on Saturday and confiscated 12 trucks that illegally dispose of C & D trash throughout the city,” he said.
