Wellington: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the national locking on Tuesday after the new Covid-19 case was found in the largest city in Auckland.
Lockdown will run seven days in Auckland, but three days elsewhere.
Ardern said the authorities assumed a new case was the Delta variant even though this was not confirmed.
