AHMEDABAD: In a different instance of caste discrimination in Gujarat, a 22-year-old Dalit youth was allegedly attacked by approximately 10 men in the OBC area in Karkathal village at Viramgam taluka overdue on Sunday. Victim Suresh Vaghela, that operates with a fridge manufacturing company at Sanand GIDC, registered a complaint against Dhama Thakor, Kaushik Valand, Atrik Thakor, Sanjay Thakor, Anand Thakor, Vijay Thakor along with other unidentified individuals with all the Viramgam Rural authorities. Vaghela told authorities,”Dhama Thakor phoned me on Sunday and asked why I retained a moustache. He advised me to come from my home, and threatened to me. I disconnected the telephone and proceeded to sleep. Some time after I heard someone knock on the principal gate of my home.” At the FIR, Vaghela said that his dad opened the door and was going to head out when Vaghela hurried out and discovered Dhama Thakor standing there with a machete on his hands. Vaghela attempted to speak to him Dhama alongside another accused allegedly assaulted him with wooden sticks and iron pipes. He explained that and all the guys he termed that there were five other people whose names he didn’t understand. They supposedly thrashed him poorly. Vaghela told authorities,”They hurled caste-based expletives at me and chased me for maintaining a moustache. When other relatives intervened, Dhama Thakor along with his group thrashed them too.” Their cries for help attracted another villagers for their rescue, along with the accused fled the area. Vaghela was hurried into Viramgam public hospital in which he had been given primary therapy and then changed into a private hospital at Viramgam. Afterwards, he also filed a complaint of assault, criminal intimidation and unlawful assembly beneath the IPC as well as rates of SC/ST (avoidance of atrocities) behave contrary to the accused.
