Chennai: The central decision on the application of OBC bookings for MBBS seats available under all Indian quotas (AIQ) at state government colleges is on ‘very advanced stage’, Madras High Court is told.
The exception of Tushar Mehta made a submission for this effect before the first bench chairman of Judge Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy on Monday.
He also looked for a week for the center to report further development.
Record submission, the court posted this problem until August 2 for further hearing.
Submission was carried out in the defense of insults moved by the DMK against the UNI Ministry of Health for failing to implement a high court order on July 27, 2020, directed that the reservation was carried out from the current academic year.
On July 19, the court clarified that the Center had no other choice but to implement orders from the current academic year.
“Not implementing a reservation is not an option,” said the court.
Further benches explain that MBBS enters medical courses in Tamil Nadu can be made only after applying a reservation.
The court then directed the center to show the attitude considered as a mode and how to implement the OBC reservation quota within a week.
Previously, Senior Advocate P Wilson argued that even though it was a clear direction from the court to implement orders from the current academic year, the center had taken a stand that could not implement the same disposal of the Salami Kumari case before the Supreme Court.
The APEX court has explained that the Kumari Saloni case has nothing to do with this case.
Apart from such clarification, the center refused to implement court orders, Wilson added.
