Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Tuesday increases objections to certain provisions in the Draft Ports India Bill-2021 proposed by the center, capturing that new laws can withdraw the power that has been determined by non-main management countries.
Minister of Trade and Transport Padmanabha Behera wrote a letter to the minister of port, shipping and water channel (PSW), Mansukh Mandaviya, looking for modifications in the bill and deliberation bill to overcome the concerns of coastal countries.
Previously, the Chairman of the Tamil Minister Nadu M St Stalin had written to nine major ministers including Odisha to oppose port bills and take common actions.
As the authority to make regulations for non-main ports for most subjects is the Country Maritime Council or the current state of the coastal state, the center seeks to demand the country’s authority through the Maritime State Development Board (MSDC) with the proposed bill (MSDC ) With the proposed bill.

The Minister of Trade and Transportation said the proposal was against the spirit of federalism of cooperatives and state empowerment.
Behera said MSDC had existed as a advisory body that was informed since 1997, focused on the planning and development of the port and integrated interior waterways.

“While we welcome this step, MSDC must only consist of the ministers of coastal countries and trade union ministers who are similar to the GST council.
Officials for concerns of the Workers Government and the Coastal Government Government can be made to invite MSDC,” said Behera.
