BHUBANESWAR: Famous Odia poet, translator and lexicographer Subhendu Mund died of cardiac arrest on Friday.
He was 70.
He was promptly taken into a private hospital after he complained of chest discomfort and dropped his understanding.
But he couldn’t be revived, but his relatives said.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, one of several others, expressed grief at the passing from Subhendu.
“Pray to God for the departed soul and give my personal condolences to the bereaved family,” portion of this tweet from Naveen read.
Subhendu leaves his wife Pranatitwo sons and a girl.
Subhendu, a native of Kalahandi district, began his teaching career as a British lecturer at 1973 and hailed as the primary of BJB Autonomous College at 2009.
A scholar of Indian English literature, that he had been a visiting professor in the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management at IIT Bhubaneswar.
He got his bachelor’s degree from Berhampur University, Master’s in Sambalpur University, chased his PhD in Utkal University apart from Aberdeen University, Scotland.
Subhendu was correlated with many literary and academic associations.
He had been the main editor of the Indian Journal of World Literature and Culture,” vice-president of the Indian Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies and chairman of the Association for Research in Literature and Culture.
A creative author, he published several roles of writings, critical essays and book reviews in addition to publications in Odia and English.
He’s 40 novels and 100 research papers to his credit score.
Among his works was translated into Kannada.
His anthology of all Odia poems, Shabda Nishabda, Muhurtatie Mohini! And Swapnabarta are read.
He had been a co-compiler of all Sambalpuri Odia Shabdakosha.
A very simple boy from distant Kalahandi, Subhendu proceeded to earn a name for himself in the world of ancient Indian writings in English.
