Bhubaneswar: The government has provided administrative approval for the University of Odia in Satyabadi in Puri Regency, with RS 60 Crore spent for infrastructure development.
The State Higher Education Department will soon release funds to the Odisha Bridge and Corporation Limited (OBCC), which will implement the project.
OBCC has prepared a masterplant through Delhi-based agents.
This project will reflect Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya, founded by famous Panchasakha – Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Acharya Harihar Das, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Krupasindhu Mishra and Godavish Mishra – who teaches patriotism, services to mankind and nationalism during Indian struggle for freedom.
Official sources say campuses and other infrastructure will reflect ethia ethia.
Traditional building materials will be used until the maximum time limit in building construction and other infrastructure.
“About 10 hectares of land have obtained and the construction is expected soon.
In the first phase, classrooms for five learning schools, separate hostels for boys and girls with a combined strength of 160 seats, administrative blocks, auditoriums, cafeterias and libraries will be taken for construction , “said an official.
The Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik has placed the university foundation stone on October 9, 2018, at the commemoration of the birth of the Gopabandhu Das.
But the project could not make headway in the last three years due to administrative problems.
The University of Odia has been planned to promote higher research and studies in the language and literature of Odia.
It will also offer research activities on literary criticism, evolution of ancient Indian scripts, historical scripts, archeology, tribal language studies and regional language studies, among others.
