Bhubaneswar: Books in Odia for BTECH and Diploma Engineering courses will be ready in March-end.
Initially, books would be published for the first year.
The Indian Natural Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Odia and Research (iOSR) study institute to prepare these translated books to start BTECH and Diploma courses in odiah from the 2022-23 academic session.
According to him for plans, nine technical books were being translated in odiah for BTECH first year.
Likewise, 11 books will be ready for the first year diploma course.
Translation work began in November last year.
“Many talented and experienced retired professors are involved in the work to develop good odiah books for technical courses.
We have set a target to complete the project at the end of March,” said Subrat Kumar Prusty, Secretary of the Project Monitoring Committee and the Secretary of the IOSR member.
He said they developed the critical term glossary used in engineering books.
“Some terminology will have English and Odia names in books for better student understanding.
We have framed guidelines for translations of engineering books in odia.
Experts will follow up when translating books,” Prousy added.
He said they also began translating the second year’s books from this course.
“We will translate 42 books for BTECH the second year and 46 for the second year diploma.
The work is underway,” he said.
In March, Aicte will invite applications from universities and colleges who are interested in introducing technical courses in odiah.
Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPP) Chitarijan Representative Chitarijan Tripathy said the university had sent a letter to Aicte about starting from technical courses in Odia.
“I am waiting for Aicte’s response,” Tripathy said.
