Bhubaneswar: Projections of more than 19,000 cases a day during peak Covid third wave is possible in Odisha is the worst case scenario to prepare the infrastructure and manpower, health authorities said on Thursday.

About 30 pediatric unit with a total of 1,200 beds, 740 beds ICU, more than 8,000 beds in treatment centers Covid (245 community health centers each and 551 primary health centers respectively) and 28 hospital field with 1,400 beds (respectively 50) is planned to be added.
With large-scale preparations, the government hopes to reduce its reliance on private infrastructure, which had been hired in the first two waves.
