Bhubaneswar: Projections of more than 19,000 cases a day during peak Covid third wave is possible in Odisha is the worst case scenario to prepare the infrastructure and manpower, health authorities said on Thursday.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said while various models have estimated the different possibilities, the government has prepared such that the system is not overwhelmed even in the worst case.

The Department of Health has asked the district administration for the project infrastructure projects amounting to 1.5 times of what is needed during the peak of the Second Wave, in December with a special focus on children.
About 30 pediatric unit with a total of 1,200 beds, 740 beds ICU, more than 8,000 beds in treatment centers Covid (245 community health centers each and 551 primary health centers respectively) and 28 hospital field with 1,400 beds (respectively 50) is planned to be added.
