BALASORE: A man from the Mayurbintj District, who spent almost 19 years in prison for the belief of three murders released on Wednesday after a judge decided that he had been punished incorrectly in 2005, reported Kishan Sahu.
Habil Sindu from Balrampur village was accused of three killings on January 3, 2003.
Those who were killed, allegedly because they were suspected of practicing black magic, they were partners and their children in the Sindu.
Sindu was arrested immediately after the murder followed complaints.
In 2005, additional judges-district-cum-session (bari on) punished Habil to serve a life sentence.
However, Sindu challenges judgment in HC.
Considering the sensitivity of the case, HC appointed Amicus Curiae to investigate this case.
The District Court and session released Habil on Wednesday due to lack of evidence after studying all cases, hearing 11 witnesses and through a 32-page investigation report.
“I am very happy because the court has cleared me from all allegations and has released me.
Even though I have a family, they reject me.
I will return to the village and take the farm,” Sindu said.
