Bhubaneswar: Amid increased concerns over the possibility of the impact of the third possible wave in children, the analysis of the Ministry of Health shows 23 children under 18 years – 12 boys and 11 women – died because Covid in the second wave ongoing, Up from 13 who have died in the same age group (10 boys and three girls) last year.
According to a wise analysis, while four children in the age group 0 to 6 died because of Covid-19 this year, 11 in 7 to 14 and eight at 15 to 15 to the age bracket gave up on the virus.
Last year, among 13 children who died, three under six years, six in 7 to 14 age groups and four in the bracket aged 15 to 18 years.
The analysis was conducted at 5,145 death this year (until August 16) and 1,876 years ago.
While 69,212 in the age group 0 to 18 had been infected so far in the second wave, last year 27,787 was tested positively.
Secretary of the Additional Chief (Health) Pradipta Kumar Mohaparna said the government maintained the closure of infection between 0 to 18 age groups because they were not part of the ongoing vaccination drive and considering predictions about greater vulnerabilities.
“The districts have monitored infection and acute respiratory diseases in influenza and severe among the age groups 0 to 18.
The government is preparing for infrastructure for any possibility,” said Mohapatra.
On Thursday, the country added 1,041 more infections, including 128 in the age group of 0 to 18.
