Odisha: 6 Face Trial for collapsing bridges that killed 2

Bhubaneswar: Lokayukta Odisha on Friday decided to start prosecution of six people, including four government employees, in a special court for alleged criminal violations that lead to the collapse of the construction of the construction under the Balangir Regency which killed two and injured two more.
Anti-corruption Watchdog has requested the alertness of the state to submit a charging sheet against them.

Lokayukta has taken Awareness of Suo Motu to media reports and has ordered the alertness of the state to investigate the bridge collapse.
The puplings suggested by the action under the prevention of the Corruption Law and 120 (B) IPC (criminal conspiracy) of the people involved, the Lokayukta command stated.
Two months before collapsing, when deflection was noted on the bridge in February, the rural development department has asked a Delhi-based expert to check it out.
Experts, V K Raina, have shown poor quality and suggest that some of the superstructures are destroyed and reconstructed.
But the advice is ignored.
The government has gave bridge sanctions under Baju Setu Yojana in 2013-14 and the e-tender was resolved to build a bridge with an estimated cost of Rs 6.99 Crore.
