Bhubaneswar: After about a week of slow vaccination, the state government plans to intensify the urge to cover at least two lakh people a day since Saturday for receiving around 9.43 doses of lakh covishield on Friday.
The government has also decided to introduce Covaxin at Ganjam, which has so far only been used in Bhubaneswar.
The state, which has also received a dose of lakh on Friday, aims to cross the landmark of at least one dose to one crore on Saturday.
So far, the country has provided 1.20 doses of crore, including at least one dose to 99.26 lakh people and both doses of up to 21.62 lakh.
About 32,000 doses were given on Friday Secretary (Health) Pradipta Kumar Mohaparna said even though the state had the potential to use around 3.5 lakh dose a day, around two doses of lakh would be planned per day available.
For July, the state is scheduled to get 30.50 lakh doses in all from the center below the free supply quota.
On Saturday, vaccination will be held in 15 of the 30 districts.
15 The remaining districts from Balagair, Balalasore, Boudh, Deogarh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Coraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nabanada, Rayaganada and Sonepur will not see vaccination because new vaccine stocks will not be sent to these districts on Saturday.
At present, the state has a 10.55 lakh stock of covishield doses and 4.18 lakh doses of covaxin.
The Ministry of Health has asked the Ganjam District Government to plan their vaccination that has not received their first covaxin dose.
A government official said the state almost met the first dose coverage in Bhubaneswar, where Covaxin was used.
More than 9.21 lakh people have received at least their first dose.
Given the supply of covaxin in the future, there will be extra doses left outside the requirements of Bhubaneswar, which can be used on the Ganjam.
