Bhubaneswar: BARGARH District Administration in West Odisha has decided to assign one teacher per 1000 people to supervise Covid cases and vaccination drive monitoring in the district.
The Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer (CDM & PHO) Arun Patra said on Tuesday that the increasing case and lack of labor, the teacher would be very helpful.
“Perbayat representatives previously helped in such a step.
But with rural polls announced, they will not be available now,” he said.
Citing a decision taken at the district judge’s level, CDM & Pho wrote to Education Officers in Mitrabhanu Regency Kachhap to distribute Covid’s duties to the school teacher.
As planned, the teachers will be allocated their respective areas where they visit houses to the house and interact with people every day to identify people with alleged symptoms, encourage and guide them to be tested at the nearest testing center.
For Positive Covid people, they will discuss health status, supply them covid (drugs) kits and requirements for health authorities if needed.
They will also identify people who have not been vaccinated so that their vaccination can be planned in the appropriate way.
In the first two waves, teachers in various districts have helped manage covid care centers and influenza supervision such as severe acute respiratory diseases.
Other districts also plan to use teachers in Covid Care.
“At present we have not included a school teacher for Covid-19 activities but in the case of a need when the case rises further we can consider putting them,” said Tapiram Majhi, director of the project, District Rural Development Agency, Jharsuguda.
