Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of State Allegance, which investigated corruption allegations against the former Odisha staff election employees, Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, had known he had suppressed many job applicants to subscribe to the life insurance policy of his wife.
Sahoo’s wife, who was also ordered by vigilance to be alleged corruption practices, was an agent who was exiled by life insurance.
The vigilance said Sahoo harassed his official position and asked the insurance business on behalf of his wife.
When the Odisha staff election commission (OSSC) recrudes Group-C from various departments in the state government, Sahoo, who is a private secretary of members of the Jagannath Commission Lenka, insisted on many job applicants to utilize the insurance policy from his wife.
“Interrogation and investigation showed the main and active focus of Sahoo was to sell insurance policies to people on behalf of his wife since 2009.
It has been confirmed that the insurance policy of more than 900 customers has been requested by Sahoo to date.
A number of policyholders are suspected of being applicants from various exams OSSC, “said a senior alertness officer.
Of the 900 policy customers, vigilance has tracked 21 people, who have attended the OSSC exam in the past.
However, vigilance has not confirmed whether there are 21 people chosen for each government post.
“We have confiscated 114 acceptance cards of various OSSC exams from their homes in Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar on July 30.
After verification, we have found 107 candidates not chosen for any government work.
Seven other cases are being studied,” said the alertness officer.
Anti-corruption wings have also learned Sahoo using the undervaluation of some of the land compared to the value of government benchmarks from property at the time of purchase.
The total number of upvaluations is being assessed and this property seller will soon be called to be interrogated.
“Bank transactions, investments in mutual funds and stocks, and insurance policy premium payments by Sahoo and family members, and Benami transactions, verified,” said alertness officers.
Sahoo, who restored the vigilance of four days on Friday, was produced in a special judge court, vigilance.
Sahoo, who was arrested by vigilance on July 30 for allegedly had disproportional assets with known sources of income.
