Bhubaneswar: BJD Naveen Patnaik on Friday decided to serve at least 27% of candidates from other backup classes (OBC) in all future elections – starting with Pancrayat polls, scheduled for early next year.
Two BJD Reverse Classes – Food Supplies and Ministry of Welfare of Consumer Welfare Ranendra Pratap Swain and Minister of Higher Education and Agriculture Arun Sahoo – announce party decisions at a shared news conference.
Explain the reason behind the move, the leaders said Naveen decided to involve 27% of OBC candidates because there were restrictions on the court in the quota for them in Panciran and local agencies of urban areas.
Ministers also cast out other parties to take similar steps for social and educational reverse classes.
“They also have to nominate 33% of women in assembly and selection of Lok Sabha,” Swain said.
BJD has lowered 33% of women’s candidates in the Sabha 2019 election .
Acting in pills, the Orissa High Court has been in April 2018 directing the country not to cross the 50% quota limit.
The BJD MPs recently met the Minister of Sehoan Home Amit Shah and demanded the central law to eliminate 50%.
