Odisha: Buddha Statue, Pillar Excavated from River Basics in Jajpur District

Kendrapada: Stone Statue Stayed Three Feet Dewi Marichi, a broken Buddhist idol, stone pillars and other objects excavated from the base of the Baitarani River near Kunjabiharipur Village in Jajpur Regency on Monday.

“We found a stone statue, broken stone idols, old bricks and other objects during sand mining on the river.
After objects were found, villagers stopped mining work and helped eliminate the artifacts from the river basis,” said the watershed manomophical local residents .

“The size of the Dewi Marichi stone statue, was found here, similar to Marichi Lalitiriri, Ratnagiri and Udayagiri statues.
We believe that all objects are the remnants of the eighth-century Buddhist stupa.
Since the third century to the medieval period, Buddhism developed in Odisha.
But it is difficult to ensure period which artifacts come from archeological department officials check it, “said Nrusingh Sahoo, a well-known researcher.
He added that the Senior Indian Archaeological Survey and the Ministry of Culture was told about his development.
“They will decide whether the site needs to be excavated,” said Sahoo.
