Bhubaneswar: The Old College of Engineering and Technology Decade (CET), Bhubaneswar will be upgraded to a unitless unit unit as a Country Cabinet led by the Head of Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Saturday approved a proposal in this matter.
CET, one of the oldest technical institutions in this country will be increased as University of Technology and Research Odisha (ORUL) to provide facilities and opportunities for graduates, postgraduate education, PhDs and research in the fields of engineering, science and technology including information technology and its application, architecture and Management, Training, Research, Development, and Extensions.

Established in 1981 by the state government to meet the needs of developing technical human resources in the state, this campus is located in an area of more than 100 hectares of land in Kalinga Nagar in the city.
Although universities were originally established as universities universities and Odisha technology (OUAT), then affiliated with the University of Patnik Technology.
“Orul will function as a center to encourage cooperation and interaction between the academic community and research on the other side and industry on the other hand,” said Secretary Chief Semraf Chandra Mohapatra after a cabinet meeting.
Orul will identify and build relationships including memorandum of understanding for long-term relationships with industrial bodies and each company to create opportunities for teachers and students to engage in research
The main secretary said the university would also provide an opportunity to improve work capabilities through entrepreneurial training, special skilled training and industrial software requirements.
Official sources said the University Grant Commission had provided the autonomy status to the Institute in 2017.
Unity University status was also a long demand for students.
In other major developments, the Cabinet also approved the increase in the Edisha State Wide (Oswan) area network which helped improve the efficiency of governance through connectivity.
Oswan provides the backbone of basic information technology used to carry data, videos and sound traffic that facilitate inter-intra-departmental communication and share data within the country.
The main secretary said the increase was needed to meet the latest data technology, voice transmission and video.
It will facilitate bandwidth at the state headquarters, 30 district headquarters and 314 blocks of headquarters for increasing bandwidth, sharing the burden and availability of high connectivity.
Around RS 333 Crore will be spent on increasing Oswan.
