BHubaneswar: The Branch of State Crime on Thursday launched an investigation to track Cyber’s criminals who allegedly postponed five people with almost Rs 7 lakh after hacking the number of WhatsApp Manoj Pattnaik, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from the Odisha Computer Application Center (OCAC) and the additional secretary from Department of Electronics and Information Technology (E & IT).
Hackers take control of whatsapp pattnetic numbers and send messages to close contact that claim that he needs an urgent financial assistance for treatment.
The incident has embarrassed the government as cyber criminals targeting the Top Department of E & IT officers, who have polished people against cyber fraud.
“We have asked our Cyber PS to investigate this case.
Activated efforts to resolve this case,” said Director General of Police (crime branch) Sanjeeb Panda.
The source said the caller had been traced to Bengaluru while the SIM he used and the bank account that the victims had sent money opened in Tamil Nadu.
The crime branch said the modus operandi hacker was being examined.
Pattnik claimed he did not receive a phishing or OTP link from an unknown caller on his cellphone.
“But we were very suspicious of the callers to send digital code to Pattnik, which in turn might have divided it with hackers, giving access to WhatsApps Foreigners, “said another crime branch officer.
Cyber experts say whatsapp numbers can be hacked only if the user or cellphone owner obeys the evil instruction caller.
“OCAC officers must follow the instructions from unknown callers after the WhatsApp number is accessed by a fraudster.
The only way to stay safe is to ignore relationships, letters and messages that are dangerous or suspicious,” said the expert experts Harish Tripathy.
After the hacking incident, the E & IT department has begun to squeal people about phishing on the call and whatsapp messages.
The department has issued an advisor about Phishing WhatsApp.
“Hackers targets victims through whatsapp voice calls or suspicious links on social media, SMS and WhatsApp.
By adopting precautionary measures, hackers can be stored in the bay without removing the application installation,” Department of E & IT tweeted.
