Bhubaneswar: Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik led the ‘Indian Cheering’ Campaign of Odisha to say the country’s athletes for the Tokyo Olympics which were ongoing on Friday.
“All Indian contingent athletes at # Tokyo2020 are proud of the nation.
Join this country to say that everything is best when they are preparing to go and give the best to bring victory for the country,” Naveen tweeted.
Five athletes from Odisha – Dutee Chand, Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo – participate in the Olympics.
In addition, the Shuttler Pramod Bhagat has also qualified for Paralympics and is one of the favorites to win a medal.
Naveen previously announced a cash award for athletes from a victory medal country in Tokyo.
RS 6 Crore’s prize money was announced to win gold while each Rs 4 Crore and Rs 2.5 Crore, will be given to silver and bronze medals.
Hockey legend, Olympian and former Indian captain Dilip Tirkey also hopes the athletes and says the game is a true sports and sportsmanship celebration.
“Our athletes hit Pandemic Covid-19 and want to make their best efforts at the Tokyo Olympics.
Our medal prospect looks very promising this time.
As far as the Indian men’s hockey team, it looks one of the strongest teams,” Tirkey said.
The State Sports and Youth Service Department has also launched a special campaign to expect athletes to the Olympics.
Many sportsmen, politicians, bureaucrats and the general public cheer for athletes.
The Minister of Sports Tusharkanti Behera also joined the country to say athletes.
“More than 100 athletes including six Odisha participated in extravaganza sports.
I hope that many of them will make us proud of winning medals.
We have high hopes of our country athletes,” said Behera.
