Bhubaneswar: Sharpening the focus on attracting fresh investment, the state government on Friday gives ahead to seven new projects with total potential investment Rs 2,084 Crore.
These include three wheat-based ethanol plants with PSU oil, along with investment in the renewable energy sector, logistics and tourism.
It is believed to produce employment opportunities for more than 2,144 people.
Officials said the authority of the State Single Single Window License (SLSWCA), led by the Chief Secretary of the Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, who received a call on the individual investment project in RS 1,000 Crore was cleaning these projects.
According to an official statement, the proposal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for a 500 kilo wheat-based ethanol plant per day (KLPD) and 8MW power plant at Balgopalpur near Ballasore received state approval.
Major oil will invest RS 870 Crore for that purpose.
SLSWCA also gave approval to prepare two other wheat-based ethanol factories, including 500klpd one by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in the Umerkote in Nabarangpur, and other 100KLPD factories, along with biogas factories and electricity generation co-gen by Newalt Energy Benar Mumbai Limited In Nuakheta near Bantala in Angul Regency.
While HPCL will invest around Rs 500 Crore at the factory, Mumbai-based promoters will spend Rs 125 Crore to develop the unit, the statement reads.
Ethanol fuel costs cost and environmentally friendly compared to other biofuels.
It is also easily available and helps reduce global warming.
Ethanol fuel reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
With the center set a target of a combination of 10% fuel ethanol with gasoline in 2022 and 20% fainting in 2025, officials said three approved units would surge into existing capacity and help reduce carbon footprint.
As part of the focus on the growth of the logistics sector, the government cleared the proposal for multi-capital logistics parks by the International Cargo Terminal and Private Limited infrastructure in Kujang in Jagatsinghpur District with an investment of Rs 150 Crore.
