Odisha CM Allows 67.52 lakh Longer to feed strays

BHUBANESWAR: Naveen Patnaik on Thursday sanctioned Rs 67.52 lakh from chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF) to feed stray animals in metropolitan areas throughout the protracted lockdown period.
The BMC will invest Rs 20,000 daily, whereas Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur municipal companies each will pay Rs 10,000 daily.
The country includes 48 municipalities along with 61 advised place councils (NACs).
Every municipality and NAC will invest Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,000 each day, respectively.
The ministry had previously declared Rs 1.13 crore in 2 stages for this function.
The motivation is to assist thousands of stray creatures who might face trouble in getting food through the lockdown.
During the first period of lockdown, the urban and housing development department had advocated the urban regional bodies (ULBs) to carry up ingestion of stray animals.
“The ULBs are counseled to satisfy up with the cost from the funds available together from different resources, such as particular source revenue, or subject to recoupment by the particular aid commissioner (SRC) or chief minister’s relief fund,” the home and urban development division had said.
The authorities needed a similar initiative last season also.
