Odisha CM inaugurated RS 1,500-Crore Expansion from the Utkal Alumina Refinery in Kashipur

Bhubaneswar: Head of Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Thursday Virtually inaugurated the expansion of the Lipal Alumina International Limited Alumina refinery from 1.5 MTPA to 2 MTPA in Ringgada District.
Utkal alumina, a subsidiary of 100% of Aditya Birla Group Company Hindalco, has invested around 1,500 crore rs for refinery expansion.
The company initially invested around Rs 8,500 Crore to establish a refinery in 1993.
has drawn bauxite from the tambannya Baphlimali to feed the refinery.
Overcoming the meeting, Naveen said he was very happy that investors in Odisha expanded their project even after the impact of Covid-19.
“This shows that our economy bounces back from the impact of the pandemic and we return to the path of growth and sustainable development,” said the minister’s chairman added that the state had attracted investment to a piece of crore more than Rs 4.5 lakh since it was a pandemic.
Naveen also praised Odisha’s relationship with Aditya Birla Group during the meeting, also attended by the chairman of the Kumar Mangalam Birla group and the Managing Director of Hindalco Satish Pai through video conferencing.
He urged the group to guide their additional units and colleagues to visit the country and explore more opportunities to invest in the state because it would help build industrial ecosystems.
For this expansion unit, more than 500 people are employed through direct roles and contracts.
Aditya Birla Group employs more than 12,000 people in Odisha, which accounts for more than 10% of its global labor, said an official statement.
Aditya Birla Group said that the group had invested more than RS 30,000 crore in the state in a diverse sector such as metal, mining, cement, financial services, fashion and retail.
“We plan to deepen our presence at Odisha.
The Group will invest around Rs 7,200 Crore in various businesses.
For Hindalco, we have informed the investment of Rs 3,000 Crore to prepare a flat plant (FRP), downstream unit in Hirakud.
We are committed to partnering with Odisha And people in our search for collective prosperity, “Birla said.
Hindalco MD said the expansion and FRP unit would make Odisha return to one of the largest and most modern FRP factories in the world with advanced technology from American company novelists.
“Development will accelerate the rate of generation of employment in technology, transportation, packaging and logistics and improve business for additional industries.
Globally, India is the third largest aluminum manufacturer.
With additional capacity Hindalco, Odisha will produce two-third of the metal,” said the Hindalco MD.
In January 2020, the state government had approved the Hindalco proposal for the second Greenfield Alumina refinery unit in Kansariguda in Ringgada District with an 8,000 crore RS investment.
