Bhubaneswar: Chairman of the Naveen Patnaik Minister here on Wednesday launched a road safety initiative under the Rakshak banner – the first respondent training program.
At least 30,000 volunteers, living or working in restaurants and different business companies located near accident-prone spots, will be trained as the first respondent to the crash on the road.
“A road accident is a serious cause for all of us.
It has a serious impact on our family and our economy.
In the situation of road accidents, the first hour after the accident is the most important to save life,” said Naveen.
This capacity building program is being organized by the Department of Commerce & Transportation in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft Für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Odisha branch of the Indian Red Community.
In the first phase, 300 main trainers including volunteers from the Indian Red Cross and NGOs throughout the country, will be trained in coach training (TOTS) by experts from the Automotive Skills Development Board (ASDC).
Tots will be carried out in 10 places – Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Religious, Sambalpur, Ballasore, Coraput, Phulbani, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Bhawanipatna.
In the second phase, 300 Trainers Master will visit accident-prone areas in all 30 districts and train local communities to provide assistance to victims of road accidents.
The first 30,000 respondents will be equipped to provide first and pre-hospital relief equipment for victims of accidents in gold hours.
The first respondent will also educate people about road safety steps and good Samaritan law.
The Department of Department of Padmanabh Behera, Secretary of Madan Sudan Padhi and Arun Botra’s transportation commissioner present during the launch of Rakshak.
