Bhubaneswar: Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday submitted a cash award of each RS 2.5 Crore each to the Hockey Player of Odia Birendra Lakra and Amit Rohidas, who was part of the Indian men’s hockey team who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics after the gap 41 years.
Offering a letter to the appointment as a police deputy supervisor (DSP) at the Odisha police was also handed over to Lakra and Rohidas by the minister’s chairman.
At the special Felicitation ceremony held at the Kalinga Stadium here, Naveen also handed over the cash award of Rs 50 Lakh Ekka Ekka Ekka and Namita Toppo, which with the National Women’s Hockey team who completed the fourth performance and achieved the best performance in the Indonesian Olympics.
Naveen praised the fighting team of women in achieving the semi-finals and creating history in Indian hockey.
Praising the performance of Odia players, Naveen suggested them to continue their hard work and bring more victories to the country and convince them full support in the future.
“The Kalinga Stadium has become the center of global hockey.
The next edition of the Men’s Hockey World Cup will also be played at the stadium along with other places in Rourkela,” said Naveen.
Because Odisha is the official sponsor of the National Hockey team, the main minister is likely to facilitate the entire team of men and women at the stadium on August 17 for their spectacular performances in Tokyo.
The four players are also eager to return to their home regions where they compete against the best in the world who helped them on their way to the Olympics.
They also expressed a deep gratitude to the main minister to support Indian hockey, which resulted in a record performance at the Tokyo Olympics.
The four players also appreciate the state government to fulfill their commitment to gifts and cash jobs on their arrival in the state.
Lakra and Grace Deep, each of which is the deputy captain of the Male and Female team, serves a team shirt with a signature of all team members to the minister’s chairman.
