Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Asks Officials to Remove Intermediaries from the Agri-Supply Chain

Bhubaneswar: Head of Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Friday emphasized on releasing intermediaries from the Agri supply chain that would ensure that connecting farmers directly to the market and helped increase their income.
While inaugurating Odisha Agri Konklaf-2021 above video conferencing, the minister’s chairman said the agricultural development and empowerment of the state government priority.
“We must respond to market dynamics.
We need to streamline their connectivity to the aggregator and processor to play a role as a manufacturer.
We need to delete intermediaries, which do not add value to the supply chain,” Naveen said on that occasion.
Leading Personal Players in the Agribusiness and Food Processing Sectors such as Adani-Wilmer Ltd, Tata Agri, Parley, Amul, Coffe Board of India, Big Basket joined the Conclaves held to connect farmers directly with national and global markets.
The purpose of the conclave is also to provide traditional, original and nutritious income countries to gain excellence in the global market.
Underpointing investor friendly policies from the state government for Agri-business players, Naveen opens the country’s door to national and global players in sectors to invest in the state.
Odisha is now a leading cereal manufacturer including millet, vegetables, fruits, spices, fish, seafood and poultry products and some of the main products available for the addition of seafood values, cashew nuts, organic millet, black, black pepper, mango , Jackfruit, sweet potato, acid and honey.
Some results such as Kandma Turmeric, Similipal Honey and Coraput Coffee have created their own brand value throughout the world for their extraordinary quality, said the minister’s chief.
Pursuing the role of the agricultural community in strengthening the nation’s economy, the minister’s head said the farmer’s focus approach from the state government supported by various schemes and programs has begun to produce results.
“There is a lot of evidence about local agricultural surpluses and horticulture.
We can work with Agri-Players to work together so that the pre-harvest protocol and post-harvest are appropriate followed by the agricultural community.
I want my country farmers to use advanced technology,” said Naveen .
The minister’s chairman highlights the growth of agriculture and the country’s economy despite the occurrence of natural disasters and states that Odisha has achieved self-sufficiency in the third largest food production and contributor to the distribution system.
“This is proven now that the Agri sector is a silver layer in the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic at this time,” he added.
Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo said Odisha was a pioneer in promoting agricultural companies through the ease of doing business.
As part of the conclave, officials from various departments such as agriculture, fisheries and development of animal resources and food supplies and consumer welfare held discussions with agribusiness players to explore business opportunities in the state.
