Bhubaneswar: To provide a marketing platform for products developed by the Swadaya Group (SHG) S, the state government has decided to build a dedicated market, the mission of Shakti Bazaar, the foundation placed by the Head of Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday.
On that occasion, Naveen also launched the e-market portal to facilitate global market relations with products developed by SHGS.
Implemented in 2001, Mission Shakti is one of the successful programs from the BJD government where around 70 rural laid women have been successfully held with the creation of more than six Lakh groups.
The state government provides bank loans that are easy to the SHG to take different livelihood opportunities.
Official sources say more credit than Rs 6,000 Crore has so far been given to SHG for various livelihood activities.
“There is no state or country that can develop without women’s empowerment.
The mission of the Shakti movement in Odisha will show the path to women’s empowerment in the country,” Naveen said on that occasion.
The minister’s chairman said the e-market portal will help people in London and the US to get products made by SHGS which will ensure increased income for the mission of Shakti members.
He also said that the Bazaar Shakti mission would be made throughout the state to come.
SHG is traditionally considered the largest support base and the key factor behind the consecutive BJD election victory in the past two decades.
Towards the election of Panchayat, the main minister also made a series of announcements for SHG.
He said women’s members would be involved as Sakhis Bank (banking correspondents) in Pancrayats who did not have a reconference.
While the state government has announced to establish Mission Shakti Hall in every gram of Panchayats and blocks, the main minister also gives sanctions at each of Rs 1 Crore for each district to establish Mission Shakti Bhawan at the district level.
He also announced RS 217 Crore to get SHGS members’ salaries and travel benefits for Pancrayat and the Federation of Block Levels while instructions have also been issued for a new mission of the Shakti department to resolve all problems faced by SHG.
Naveen also initiated E-Transfer Flower Subvention Rs 65 Crore for 1.38 lakh shgs.
Uniform allowances were also announced for the Pancrayat community staff.
The pursuit of the role of the Shg woman in containing the spread of Coronavirus, the main minister said Odisha is indebted to them.
The state government has also decided to involve SHG in different government activities.
Thus, 21 departments have involved women shg in various activities.
