Odisha cm raises a request for the second AIIM in Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar: underlining the contribution of Sundargarh on state energy security in terms of coal production, the head of the head of Naveen Patnaik on Friday increased the demand for the establishment of AIIM in the district when coal minister and Mines Pralhad met him at Naveen Niwas.
Because NTPC has built an integrated campus from a 500 bed and medical 100-sit hospital in Sundargarh, the state government has demanded to build a second AIIM by adding the infrastructure needed to existing facilities.
“Considering Sundargarh’s contribution in providing energy security to the state and for national development by increasing steel and iron ore production, the center must advance to fulfill the old demands of people dominated by this tribe for AIIM,” Naveen said during the meeting.
Acceptance at Sundargarh Medical College will begin with the 2022-23 academic year, where the state government has given a sanction of 271 teaching and not teaching.
The source said the minister’s chairman convinced full support to the center of AIIM’s establishment in Sundargarh.
During the meeting, the minister’s chairman also demanded the initial operations of universities and hospitals in Angul, the other main coal bearing districts.
“College medical and hospital bed 500 beds and 100-sit, which has been developed by infrastructure, will utilize most of the Dhenkanal and Angul people,” said Naveen.
During the meeting, Naveen raised the Energy Cess problem charged to coal and demanded at least 60% of the shares in CESS collected from Odisha.
The minister’s chairman said Odisha produced 153.85 million tons of coal which contributed to around 25 percent of state production by 2020-21.
“The center collects clean Cess energy of Rs 400 per ton, which is more than rs 50,000 crore.
Thus, 60% of CESS will give Odisha a number of RS 30,000 Crore which can be used for the economic development of coal mining areas and affected people , “said the minister’s chief added that the number would accelerate the development of Odisha afterwards.
situation.
The source said Odisha’s old demand for the revision of coal royalties was not known at the meeting.
An official said this problem might not be raised because the center has clarified not to revise royalties in the current coal.
State Minister of Union for the train, coal and Raosaheb mine Patil Danve also present during the meeting.
