Odisha: Cold waves to continue for two more days, said IMD

Bhubaneswar: Cold waves continue to hold some parts of Odisha for the second day in a row on Wednesday, affecting normal life.
The night temperature in the city was recorded at 10.1 degrees Celsius, 4.9 degrees Celsius below normal and one level above the lowest temperature of the season recorded on Tuesday.
Phulbani recorded 3.6 degrees Celsius, the lowest day in the state, a report on the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) said.
It adds that in 15 places again, mercury stands below 10 degrees Celsius.
The official report said Jharsuguda, at 6 degrees Celsius, saw the highest decline of 6.3 degrees from normal.
Five more places also witnessed fell sharply five degrees or more compared to normal temperatures.
IMD forecasts say the trend will continue for two more days.
Bulletins from the Met office say the minimum temperature for the next two days will remain 4 to 5 degrees Celsius and 2 to 3 degrees Celsius under normal in interior and coastal districts respectively.
After that, the night temperature will rise 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Umashankar Das, a scientist from the regional center of the IMD here, said: “The flow of dry and cold winds towards the country will be weak after a day.
But the influence will continue in the interior for another day.” The IMD has also issued a cold wave warning for Sonepur, Bolangeir, Ladyandi, Nuabada and Nawarangpur from Thursday night to Friday morning.
