Odisha: Committees to Manage silver-plating of Puri Jagannath Temple Doorways

BHUBANESWAR: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) at Puri on Wednesday featured two committees, one containing structural engineers and another a couple of servitors, to oversee the projected plating of eight notable doors of this 12th century shrine using silver.
Approximately 2,000pound of silver worth roughly Rs 15 crore given by a Mumbai-based devotee will be employed to decorate the doorways.
Included in the Jay Bijaya Dwar, Kalaahat Dwar, Beheran Dwar, Satapahach Dwar, west Bhog Mandap Dwar, Adi Narasingh Temple Dwar, Bimala Temple Dwar and Mahalaxmi Temple Dwar.
“The committee of engineers might ensure that the structural security of these doorways throughout the silver-cladding function, although the sole containing the sevayats would oversee the correct execution of this,” SJTA’s primary administrator Krishan Kumar explained.
“The layouts of the silver coat have been finalised.
The acceptance of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) would shortly be accessed.

At the moment, the Jagannath Temple has just one entry door (Kalahata Dwar) from the sanctum sanctorum.
The Kalahata Dwar was adorned with silver handiwork at 1982.
In 2010, the temple government utilized around 300kg silver value over Rs 85 lakh to beautify the borders of the identical door.
The 300kg silver has been given by a private firm and also approximately 20 artisans from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh were participated in the job.
