Bhubaneswar: The lower PMG route, which has turned into Warzone on Thursday after clashes between BJP members and police on Mamita Meer Murder’s teacher, witnessed a similar fight during the rally by the same student wing on Friday.
Some members of the Congress and police personnel were injured after clashes of violence broke out when police tried to prevent the former from blowing to the assembly.
The protesters wanted the Gherao Assembly to suppress the resignation of the Minister of State for the house of Shankar Mishra for alleged involvement in the murder case.
The police used Lathi’s accusations after the Congress protesters allegedly pelted stones, eggs, tomatoes and sticks on the first and tried to burn police vehicles.
When the protesters rushed to cover and entered the Bhawan Congress at the Master Canteen Square, the police entered the party office and struggled the agitator, drawing criticism from a few quarters.
Congress said at least 10 members they were injured and were hospitalized, one critical with a serious head injury.
Police said five personnel were injured and hospitalized after being attacked by the demonstrators.
“We strongly condemn the brutality of the police.
They are not the police, but BJD Goondas,” said the Niranjan Patnaik Congress President.
State Secretary of the Pradeep Mohapatra Congress demanded action against mistaken police personnel.
“The police broke into our party office and the brutal-attacked people, who put our members and outsiders.
On the one hand, we demanded Mishra’s resignation, on the other hand he used the police to defeat us,” said Mohapatra.
Harmed by the excess police, Congress members sat in Dharna at the Master of Canteen Square, blocking traffic from Raj Mahal and Vani Vihar for several hours.
Congress demanded a judicial investigation into the alleged brutality of the police and looked for apologies from the police.
Police denied the allegations of brutality and highhandedness.
“Even though it was attacked with stones, sticks, eggs and tomatoes, our personnel showed extreme restraints and handling hordes of angry with deftness.
The protesters burned police vehicles.
Firefighting personnel switched in time and broadcast fire immediately.
A great tragedy is avoided,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police of Uma Shankar Dash.
The police said they had fulfilled security after receiving a special intelligence input about the plan by Congress to carry violence.
Police said the protection of the Assembly and MLA was their first priority.
“Because the Assembly is in a session, we have enriched security.
We thwart the efforts by demonstrators to violate the assembly security cordons.
Actions will be taken against those who attack the police,” Dash said.
