Bhubaneswar: Land acquisition for Highway Coastal Projects and Capital Review Ring Road (CRRR) is likely to start when the Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan takes stock of these projects on Sunday.
Given the meeting with the Senior National Highway Authority India (NHAI), Pradhan directed them to implement a rapid project.
While the highway coastal project has been proposed under the planned Bharatmala Pariyajana Center, CRRR will reduce traffic congestion in major cities along the national highway-16.
Both projects have received the approval of the state government.
“After the state government nodded, we have sent both projects for the approval of the Land Procurement Committee (LA) NHAI.
After the approval of the LA Committee, we will write to the district collector concerned to start land acquisition.
We hope to obtain an approval of La Committee for the CRRR project Next month, “said a senior NHAI official who was part of the meeting.
The Project of the Capital Ranch 112 km will connect Rameswar in Khurda District to Tangi in the Cuttack through Govindpur in Dhenkanal, past major cities such as Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Athagarh, Cuttack and Choudwar, said the official source.
The road will be developed as a 6-lane carriageway and around Rs 2,500 Crore will be spent on it.
When the state government recently cleared the coastal highway project after years of deadlock over its alignment (the proposed path), Pradhan, during a review, requested officials to accelerate its implementation because it would provide a boost to the country’s socio-economic growth and for thousands of opportunities work.
Pradhan also reviewed the status of the 300-km economic corridor project which was proposed from the paradip to Barbil which aims to ensure a smooth road connectivity between interior of mining from the port of state and paradip.
The project, which will be developed as an eight lane road, was proposed during a meeting between the minister of Chairman of Naveen Patnaik and the Union Minister for road and highway transportation, Nitin Gadkari, last February.
Although Pradhan led the Ministry of Education, he has played an important role in facilitating the central approval for the main infrastructure projects in Odisha including the coastal road and Capital Ring Ring Road by coordinating with various ministries in the city center since 2014.
