Bhubaneswar: In what might bring a pattern for different worshipers, the administration of Shree Jagannath (SJTA) Temple in Puri has decided to make the 12th century temple easier to access them.
“We will soon come up with detailed guidelines for the smooth movement of people with disabilities in the temple.
In the absence of sufficient slopes and other facilities until now, they find it difficult to move comfortably in the temple and offer their prayers.
We will see What is best can be done for them.
The first meeting in this case is likely to be held on Saturday, “said a senior official SJTA told toi.
It should be noted that the temple government has been in November 2015 installing steel roads in both the northern gate of the temple extending to Ananda Bazaar.
Two wooden wheelchairs were also made to take physical disabled devices to the temple.
However, the facilities have been lying not used because most worshipers are not aware of their presence.
“First of all, many are not aware of the presence of the road, which is not connected to the main temple (jagaman johan) where someone can see a glimpse of God.
Wheelchairs can only go up to certain parts of the temple.
From there, people like I need to be done on the shoulder or in the arm by at least two people to reach the main temple, “said Prasnana Mohanty, a physically disabled person in Puri, said.
Administration the temple said some servants had opposed the use of wheelchairs in the temple.
“It is not difficult for us to put up the elevated slopes.
But some servants believe that our tradition does not allow people to give a prayer sitting in a chair.
We try to squeal them with the rights and needs of different worshipers,” said the temple official.
In the related development, SJTA on Wednesday issued a revised standard operating procedure for Darshan in the temple in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the updated SOP, which will be implemented from November 1, Puri Municipality Regional Residents will be allowed to enter the temple through the Western Gate other than the gate of the lion or Singhadwar.
The worshipers, including the residents of the castle, must continue to carry a negative Covid report (RT-PCR) or proof of vaccination (both doses) to get access to the temple, the revised soup said.
