Bhubaneswar: Former CBI Director of Uma Shankar Mishra (77), who was the Odisha cadre officer of the 1968 batch, died of an old age disease in a private hospital in New Delhi on Thursday.
Mishra led the CBI during December 6, 2003 to December 6, 2005.

Shri Mishra will be remembered for its professional excellence, integrity, humility and affection.

Mishra, an officer who was very decorated, had received Underworld Don Abu Salem, who was desirable in the 1993 series bomb explosion in Mumbai, was extradited from Portugal in November 2005.
A few years after his retirement, he joined as a vernacular daily guest editor of Odia every day in Bhubaneswar on Bhubaneswar In 2009.
